NOTICE

The Georgia Agricultural Irrigation Motor (AIM) Rebate Program will provide farmers with a rebate to replace inefficient diesel irrigation engines with energy-efficient electric irrigation motors. The rebates will cover 25 percent of eligible project costs, with a $10,000 maximum rebate available. AIM's goal is to help Georgia farmers become more energy-efficient, save money on fuel costs, and reduce emissions.

Additional Program Eligibility Information:

  • The replacement of the diesel to electric motor must take place within the state of Georgia.

  • The work must be performed by a licensed contractor after notification of approval from GEFA.

  • Rebates will not be provided for motor conversions that have already been completed.

  • Only one rebate per farmer is allowed.

  • The diesel motor being replaced must be at least 10 years of age and in service.

  • The efficiency of the new electric motor must be 85 percent or higher.

The size of the electric motor must be a maximum of 75 percent of the horsepower of the diesel motor it is replacing. For example, a 100 HP diesel motor that is replaced with an 80 HP electric motor would not be eligible. A 100 HP diesel motor that is replaced with a 70 HP electric engine would be eligible.

Additional Program Delivery Information:

  • Applications meeting the minimum program eligibility requirements will be reviewed, processed and approved on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • A licensed contractor’s work estimate and a notarized verification of lawful presence are required at the time of application.

  • GEFA will notify the applicants in writing to confirm if they were approved or denied. Once the applicant has received the approval confirmation from GEFA, they may select a contractor to begin installation.

  • Installations must be completed by Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

  • Applicants will provide GEFA final invoices and proof of payment through the QuickBase system when work is completed, or no later than Thursday, May 15, 2014.

  • GEFA will review invoices and process rebates for payment once approved.

  • GEFA will make payment via direct deposit to the applicant’s bank as designated on the ACH form; no payments will be made to contractors.

The application period for the program opens Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at 8:00 a.m. Available funding is limited and rebates will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The application period will close Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 5:00 p.m.
